Presentation Skills
- Delivery of a pre-prepared presentation on a topic chosen by the participant and relevant to their professional role.
Note: The duration of each individual presentation will vary based on the overall course length and participant count. A group of eight attendees is considered ideal.
- Comprehensive individual and group feedback
Preparing a Presentation
- Key questions for the presenter to address beforehand:
- Why am I the right person to present this?
- Logistics: what, where, when, how, and the duration?
- Understanding how these factors influence the presentation's structure
- Structuring the content:
- Research – gaining thorough knowledge of the subject
- Organising the material logically
- Creating and employing complementary visual aids
Preparing the Presenter
- The presenter’s three core communication tools:
- Verbal – selecting appropriate language and avoiding slang or jargon
- Vocal – refining tone and eliminating distracting speech patterns or habits
- Visual – managing appearance, including dress, body language, and overall presence
- Rehearsing the presentation and obtaining honest feedback from a reliable source
- Strategies for managing nerves
Preparing the Environment
- Room layouts – understanding how seating arrangements convey implicit messages to the audience
- Leveraging the room to enhance the overall presentation experience
Revisiting Presentation Skills
- Delivery of a second presentation (following a period of preparation).
